Urban EbA Community Orientation Handbook
13 May, 2026
This handy handbook is for everyday folks and community in the Kathmandu Valley like local residents, neighborhood (tole) committees, women's groups, youth clubs, schools, community forest users, and anyone hit hard by climate shifts. It breaks down Ecosystem-Based Adaptation (EbA) in simple terms, explaining climate change, what causes it, and how it messes with water, farming, food security, forests, biodiversity, health, women, and city life.
You'll see real-life impacts, from water shortages and urban floods to scorching heat, landslides, forest fires, health scares, and shaky livelihoods and learn easy ways communities can fight back by protecting ecosystems, adopting green habits, and building climate-tough neighborhoods. It's all about sparking awareness, getting everyone involved, and owning Urban EbA actions right where you live.
Created under the Urban EbA for Climate-Resilient Development in Kathmandu Valley project funded by GEF, led by UNEP with KVDA, and technically supported by UN-Habitat Nepal this guide empowers you to make a difference.
