Urban EbA Seminar and Dissemination of Urban EbA Training Materials

12 May, 2026

UN-Habitat Nepal, partnering with Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA) and UN Environment Programme (UNEP), hosted a successful Urban Ecosystem-based Adaptation (#UrbanEbA) seminar and training materials launch in Lalitpur on May 8, 2026, bringing together government reps, municipalities, academics, urban pros, schools, and communities to explore nature-based solutions for climate-resilient cities. They rolled out UN-Habitat's Urban EbA manuals to empower locals and leaders in sustainable development, while spotlighting urban challenges like heat stress, floods, water scarcity, and degradation—urging more green spaces, forests, and wetlands in planning. Middle schoolers from Kathmandu Valley schools wowed with poetry on "Our City, Our Environment," voicing concerns over pollution and hope for a greener future. Experts like Rija Joshi (CIUD), Anil Nepal (Institute of Engineering), and Raju Jati (Habitat for Humanity Nepal) shared insights on climate-smart growth and real EbA lessons, fueling discussions and group sessions to tackle issues and build collaborative, resilient urban spaces.
