EbA outcomes and learning sharing by students at Jalupa Secondary School, Baniyatar, Tokha
The project highlights the implementation of a rainwater
harvesting and plantation at Jalupa Secondary School, Tokha,
aimed at addressing water scarcity, groundwater
depletion, and local flooding. Rainwater collected from
the school’s roof is filtered through a rapid sand filter, stored for
hygiene
needs, and excess water is directed to a recharge well to
support groundwater replenishment. Alongside this, plantation
activities were conducted to improve greenery and promote environmental
conservation within the school premises.
The project emphasized awareness and capacity-building,
with students, teachers and local community members participating in
information sessions on rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and water
conservation. An information sharing session involving students, parents, teachers, and
community members showcased the system’s benefits and
practical applications. Student-led demonstrations strengthened learning and
community engagement.
Overall, the initiative has improved water
availability, enhanced the school environment, and fostered a culture of
sustainability and environmental responsibility among students
and the wider community.
