LiDAR based Drone Survey

Successfully attended an information presentation on LiDAR-based drone survey technology, which provided a clear overview of its applications, benefits, and accuracy. The presentation highlighted that LiDAR drone surveys enable rapid and high-resolution data collection over large and complex terrains, making them particularly effective for topographic mapping, urban planning, infrastructure assessment, forest analysis, and disaster risk studies. Key benefits include reduced field time, improved safety by minimizing on-ground surveys in difficult areas, and the ability to generate precise digital elevation models (DEMs) and 3D representations. In terms of accuracy, the presentation emphasized that LiDAR sensors mounted on drones can achieve centimeter-level vertical and horizontal accuracy when properly calibrated and supported by ground control points (GCPs), ensuring reliable and repeatable results suitable for technical, engineering, and environmental applications.
